So recently I was trawling through the neverending stream of holistic articles I subscribe to on Facebook and I was shocked to be faced with an image of a woman looking nervous, biting her fingernails. The title of this post was something like 'How likely are you to get cancer' it was then followed by a quiz. I have to say that I didn't take the quiz, not least because I'm aware that most doctors would be unable to answer that question let alone an online quiz.
But...and this is where I have a real problem with such irresponsible social media, as a certified healer I'm very aware of the link between the mind and the body when it comes to disease. I have to work within a very strict code of conduct, never attempting to diagnose anything, for I know that for some the mere suggestion that they might have something wrong with them would be enough for them to go trawling through the internet looking up symptoms and then developing those symptoms until they become genuinely ill.
So do yourself a favour, use social media for what it was designed for (taking photos of meals and bragging) and stay away from so called 'health sites' that could instill fear in you and ultimately help to cause ill health.
